The Jindřichův Hradec Museum

The City of Jindřichův Hradec is one of urban areas with ample nativity scene folk art tradition. In the Jindřichův Hradec Museum , the first mention of Nativity Scenes originates from as far back as 1579. Krýza’s Creche was donated to the museum’s collections in 1935, and since then it is one of the most frequented expositions. This Jindřichův Hradec’s burgess and stocking-weaver master Tomáš Krýza (1838 - 1918) was working on its life-long work of art for more than sixty years and his impressive Creche built over the area of 60 square meters includes 1398 figures of people and animals, of which 133 are motive.
